Francine Ngonya Mazala, aged 17 and a grade 12 pupil at Mpelembe Secondary school, won the country award for the Eutelsat and MultiChoice competition in the essay category.

Jury comment on Francine’s entry: This entry identifies pertinent challenges and then formulates a number of satellite-based solutions and ideas on topics such as peer education, virtual labs, health services and teacher development.

Best overall Poster 2013

Lloyd Ossei Baffour is a final year student of Prempeh College, in Kumasi. He is nineteen years old and an active member and leader of the Prempeh College Student Drama Club.

Jury comment on Lloyd’s entry: A winning entry with excellent flow of ideas and artistic prowess. A very imaginative and creative entry with excellent use of water colours.

Runner up overall Essay 2013

Eshlin Vedan, from Shallcross, Durban, is an avid reader, and enjoys writing about topics that such as sport, lifestyle and entertainment.

Jury comment on Eshlin’s entry: The entry effectively uses graphics to inform and clearly demarcate the different components of the essay. The entrant excelled by presenting his ideas in a highly creative, logical and effective manner.

Angel Gabriella Atim has completed S.6 at Bishop Cipriano Kihangire SSS Bbiina, where he studied PCM/ICT (Physics, Chemistry, Math and ICT).
