Anthony Oyom Peter from Greenhill Academy in Uganda won the Best Essay Award for his essay, “A watchful eye from above the heavens”. As reward for the high standard of his entry, Anthony has won a trip for two to Eutelsat in Paris and onwards to witness a live rocket launch. Anthony has also won for his school a DStv installation including a dish, television, decoder and free access to the DStv Education Bouquet.

Best overall Poster award went to 16 year old Kenyan Eva Chemngorem for her artwork entitled “Africa united through satellites”. Her work describes how satellite technology has the potential to connect Africa in many ways. Eva will be awarded a trip for two to Eutelsat Paris and a satellite construction site, as well as a DStv installation for her school.

The runner-up in the Essay category was Charles Finch, a 17 year old student from Salesian High School in Manzini, Swaziland. He was awarded a trip for two to MultiChoice Africa Offices in Johannesburg as well as to the South African Space Agency in Hartbeesthoek. His school will also benefit from free access to the DStv Education Bouquet.

Consolidating an excellent performance from Uganda in the Awards, Tony Tumusiime from Seeta High School in Mukono won the runner-up overall Poster for his artwork titled “Propelling Africa”. Tony has also won a trip for two to MultiChoice Africa office in Johannesburg and to the South African Space Agency in Hartbeesthoek as well as a DStv installation and free access to the Education Bouquet for his school.
